Calm down people, you need to take a closer look at the article before you knee jerk react. Look at who wrote this article, Amanda Carpenter, an editor at human events online who clearly has it out for allen since last week. If you go back a few days she has an article where she has a misleading title, and misleads in her analysis that allen is squishy on the border. I refer you to

This article http://www.humaneventsonline.com/article.php?id=10880

This thread http://www.freerepublic.com/focus/f-chat/1541095/posts

This woman is clearly spinning allen's words because no where in the actual vote that took place that the house voted on does allen have any say, this bill hasn't even reached the Senate. Also if you look into the interview instead of trusting the headline and her analysis above, allen talks about the desire to create a virtual fence which is cheaper and just as effective and goes on to discuss a diffrent kind of guest worker program.

This woman is nothing more than a hack who is attempting make it seem like George Allen said or did something he did not. He is not squishy on the border, do some research, she just wants to make it seem that way to take him down a notch.

For those of you with short memories, you ought to always put things in perspective and remember the past. Allen has been strong and consistent with the border, i refer you to these posts in the past:

http://www.freerepublic.com/focus/f-news/1404954/posts http://www.freerepublic.com/focus/f-news/1395383/posts

There are a few more, ill try looking for them. He's been pretty consistent and hasn't flipped and flopped his position around. This hack editor at human events is trying attempting to write a hit piece and you guys are clearly falling for it. And she is a hack, look at her article from last week and this week. Her analysis and titling is no better than the way rueters portrays republicans when they want to make them seem bad when they did nothing wrong, you knee jerk people should be ashamed.

"U.S. dollars do not stay in Mexico. If so, it would be simple to print millions of these cheap pieces of paper in return for all the goods Mexico would ship us.

U.S. dollars earned by Mexicans in the U.S. are converted to Pesos by banks on our side or theirs when the workers ship money home to Mexico. Any U.S. dollars "hanging around" in Mexico are only good for the purchase of U.S. goods or services."

Your own words belie your premise. When U. S. dollars are converted to pesos, whether here or in Mexico, they are used to support the families living in Mexico. Of course, the don't send 'dollars' back, but the effect is still the same. That's income earned in America which is spent mostly in Mexico by residents to subsist.

Don't bother to respond. 1) You and I will never agree; 2) Your condescension is a real turnoff. I have better things to do besides waste my time with an elitist.

So Scotty, you are beginning to sound more reasonable as we post along and we do share some common opinions on immigration :

1. Illegals should be deported.

2. Illegals are NOT entitled to any services and should be deported.

WE disagree on the size or type of the wall. You see it as halting all immigration. I see it as preventing illegal aliens including terrorists while allowing legal immigration to continue.

Like yourself, I don't like a concrete wall. I prefer the Israeli style with lots of barbed wire, lights, surveillance, and armed patrol. We could even make it color-coat it in red, white, & green on their side and red, white, & blue on ours :<)

A work permit should be good for a maximum of 1 year. Married Mexican men should not be leaving their wives and children for periods indefinite. Mexicans will pay a heavy price for their eroded family unit and fatherless families left behind.

We need a program to bring law-abiding workers from Mexico here legally in numbers that the market demands, and document each guest worker accurately.

Welcome to FR.

So which government agency supplies your protected income such that you are not personally affected by wage depression from open borders?

You guys just don't understand that the Lou Dobbs, Pat Buchanann thread of Conservatism (fences, walls, trade protection) hurts us all. The Great Depression was made worse by tarrifs. and protectionist policies.

Where do you illiterate global communists come from? It's like trying to get rid of fire ants. Read this:

You are either a troll or the dumbest freeper I have ever met. How many terrorists are you willing to let across the border in the name of cheap labor. Do you have an idea at all what disasters our social services have become and the schools et all hospitals the rest due to open borders, no one can afford the cost and you want it to get worse!! No thanks.
Read some of our border threads and try and see the error of your ways.either that or go back to the du.

Hi, Rod! Maybe it would make you "feel" better if we said we'll build the fence for the saftely of potential illegals?

Yup same thing that came to my mind, bayouboy has returned.

Freepers, please learn economics separate from the paranoid faux conservative Lou Dobbs school!

Dobbs has more knowledge about economics in his little pinky than you ever will. Fact is you just don't like his message bayourod, which is that immigration should be legal and orderly and that the policy must be one that works in the best interest of the nation as a whole instead of what's good solely for the corporations.

There's 200 other nations in the world in case you forgot, all of whom have citizens that could contribute positively to this great nation. Any guest worker program that only included Mexico, should one ever get set up after we've demonstrated true enforcement would be racist and discriminatory.

What I understand, Scottyboy, is that you may be new around here (as am I) but your arrogance and condescension will mark you for what you are very quickly.

you believe we're misinformed because we don't see things as you do. Calling us names such unwitting as Rino>Lou Dobbs Conservatives does nothing to enhance your argument. It simply marks you as arrogant and condescending, and one who uses labels instead of cogent discussion.

I'm not economically threatened nor need a better job. I'm retired and doing quite well thank you. I know what I know and believe what I believe, and your Conservative-lite arguments will not change my beliefs.
If you want to be a part of this forum then learn to get along instead of lecturing at every opportunity. That is, if your ego will let you.

Look. Nobody on this forum has spoken out against legal immigration. Legal. Get it? The problem we have is with the criminal act of crossing our border illegally and becoming a burden on society. Illegal immigrants take money straight out of the pocket of the taxpayer in the form of state-provided medical and welfare benefits.

We do not "need" illegal immigrants. Legal immigrants bring needed skills and integrate with our society. Illegal immigrants burden the taxpayer and refuse to assimilate. If lettuce can't be picked without illegal immigants, then industry needs to get with the program and automate the process. Reliance on slave labor for menial work unnecessary prolongs inefficient processes.

I am sick and tired of soft racism, such as yours, that intimates that Mexicans are too stupid to fix their own country and need to be here to server as the American under class. So you can your accusations of xenophobia and liberal comparisons and kindly shove them.

"align you more closely with the unionist democrats"

He IS a union member. He also advocates a living wage, guaranteed by the govt.

I take it you guys bantered in the past with a certain "bayourod." I'm not him. I'll speak for myself as a relatively new Freeper.

With this statement you could have fooled me bayourod:

If you feel ecomonically threatened by Mexican migrants, then train yourselves for a better job.

And this gem:

You guys understand, I hope, that your protectionist positions align you more closely with the unionist Democrats than the free market endeared Republicans.

Yup, Tom Tancredo, Sensenbrenner, Hayworth, they're all a bunch of "unionist Democrats" and "protectionists" because they feel like most conservatives do that immigration needs to be orderly and legal and that the status quo undermines our sovereignty.

The only label that needs applying here is to you, who I would call a globalist libertarian and not a conservative. They're two different philosophies, at least as it relates to these issues and your attempt to smear conservatives by lumping them in with unionist Democrats for not agreeing with you will not work.

Who is Ben, would you care to tell us or continue to spout your pro-illegal and businesses should be free to do whatever they want at taxpayer expense nonsense?

Despite the denials he's bayourod, those are the same exact lines we used to hear from him.
