Following the discovery of e-mail addresses connected to the MD4Bush mystery, the WBAL-TV 11 News I-Team has uncovered the electronic trail of Internet activity.
Also Friday, Baltimore Mayor Martin O'Malley responded to the latest twist in the MD4Bush mystery.
Last October, MD4Bush used private e-mails on the Free Republic's Web site to coax a former aide to Gov. Bob Ehrlich, Joe Steffen, into discussing the personal life of Baltimore's mayor.
The 11 News I-Team has learned that MD4Bush routinely logged on to the Internet from a computer in the Pasadena area. On Feb. 8 -- the night the story broke about Steffen -- MD4Bush used a computer in Baltimore to make public the private e-mails Steffen had written.
Jim Robinson, the owner operator of Free Republic, revealed on Friday more of what he knows of the electronic trail of the Internet user MD4Bush.
"MD4Bush's (Internet Protocol) addresses are all local Maryland IPs. For a large nationwide Internet service provider, nothing can be learned from them without a subpoena," Robinson said.
According to a Free Republic representative, the records of the ISP would link the MD4Bush account to a specific name and address.

On Friday, the mayor himself acknowledged he not only knows O'Doherty, but endorsed his hiring.
"He's a good guy, and I do know him," O'Malley said.
The mayor repeated that he doesn't know the identity of MD4Bush.
"I don't know who MD4Bush was, and if I find out, my wife and I will thank that person for exposing Gov. (Bob) Ehrlich, and his gutter politics, and his dirty tricks henchman Joe Steffen," O'Malley said.
Sources told the 11 News I-Team that the electronic trail of MD4Bush does not indicate the postings originated from a government or institutional computer.

The video also made it clearer that the February MD4Bush-NCPAC FReepmail dump was made from a computer in Baltimore - meaning, it likely wasn't done by the Washington PostOhhhh wait a second...
The Washington Post writer who "broke the story" of MD4BUSH, Matthew Mosk, had worked for the Baltimore Sun in 1999. (a ZABA search pulled up an old? address for Mosk in Baltimore) Mosk stayed at the Sun for only a year (or less) and then was hired away from the Sun by the Compost, to cover Annapolis and MD politics stories.
Mosk surely still has pals in Baltimore...

Not a .org or .edu address.

There's a Pasadena in Maryland, south of Baltimore City in Anne Arundel County. I'm assuming that's the Pasadena to which WBAL-TV refers. That would be the one... about 20 minutes or so from where I live. The Democratic Party here is a little like the Taliban... and as corrupt as ever ... like it was in Chicago during the 60's.

Mosk sold his
Annapolis digs in March, 2005. If anyone has time to dig around that (Maryland State) site on the link, they might be able to find out if he bought a
pied a terre in Baltimore around that time.

My IP addy is correct within 50 miles. No, I'm not MD4BUSH but also showing a Baltimore IP address.
So I'm not sure how they can pinpoint Pasadena or Baltimore city using IP address.

I have to amend this: the ISP could definitely pinpoint the location and owner of the account.

I should have said likely not done from the OFFICES of the Washington Post. It could have been anyone using the mysterious "national ISP" in the Baltimore area, including Mr. Mosk at home, if he lived there and used the ISP (or anyone else who had access to MD4Bush's password in the Baltimore area who used the ISP). Without the actual IP address and an ISP willing to rat out a customer, we can only make educated guesses.

since the emails were made public at night...the baltimore address is most probably the home address, while the Pasadena address may be work. The question may be...what's in Pasadena? Unless this is the work of more than one individual.

For Verizon, for example, some MD IP blocks map back to Baltimore; others map back to Severn; others to Fredrick; still others to Columbia. There's a cottage industry of IP address locators, as TheForceOfOne pointed out. Some websites even sell lists of IP address physical locations.

Why is it that Republicans are such gutless pussies when it comes to "going for the kill" politically?

We should be asking what is near Pasadena - not necessarily what is in Pasadena. This Geolocation technology isn't an exact science. From what I've read, they pair together zip code info with IP addresses to approximate it.
Pasadena is in between Baltimore city and Annapolis. The MD Democrats offices are in Annapolis. According to the 2004 MD Dem campaign finance statements, Ryan O'Doherty lived in Baltimore. Recently fired/demoted/suspended (or whatever) MD Democrats Executive Director Josh White lived in Annapolis.

The more we learn, the quieter the dems will get. The clue will be the crickets chirping over here.

I cannot comprehend why any Republican would want to represent a state so rife with political inbreeding. Republicans are optimistic. We believe in the goodness of the people and believe we can do anything really including reforming Maryland politics.
Ehrlich's election in a state that is 60-40 blue is proof of that.

the electronic trail of MD4Bush does not indicate the postings originated from a government or institutional computer. I find the wording of this statment to be very suspicious. If the source had said "the electronic trail of MD4Bush indicates the postings did not originate from a government or institutional computer." then I would say the statement has some meaning. "not indicating" to me means the electronic trail is not conclusive in indicating a non govt or institutional computer or any other computer.

No crickets over there, and they certainly don't chirp. It's much, much uglier than chirping.
