``This is a good first step,'' Tancredo said after the vote. ``Momentum is building.''

"As we move this legislation to the president's desk, it should include comprehensive reform," Rep. David Dreier, California Republican and chairman of the Rules Committee, said on the floor.

Man I hope California gets rid of this clown. He is having a very hard time understanding that the vast majority of people in this country, including the GOP base who vote do not want any kind of amnesty.

…the bill is unfair to an estimated 11 million illegal aliens who want a chance to work…

And how unfair are they to the millions (of all ethnicities) who have completed the proper path to attain 'legal' status? You want a chance? Then DO what everybody ELSE has done.

They want 'fair'? How about family-sized 'hav-a-hart' traps and boxcars headed south to the border?

Bill will never go anywhere. W wants open borders, and as long as he is POTUS we will never see that change. He will never sign a bill like this.

I would agree -- but Bush, at some point, will have to set aside at least part of his ONE AMERICA - OPEN BORDERS agenda, and pay attention to the American public....I know, Washington does not give a damn about the REAL American people any more, but something is going to break, whether it is the Washington pols, or a civil war in this country where the people will finally get so fed up with Washington and the invasion of their country and the destruction of our soverignty, that all hell will finally break loose --- maybe that is what it is going to take.
