The Lotts paid insurance premiums for more than 40 years, according to the lawsuit, believing they would be covered for all losses caused by a hurricane

Oh come on! He didn't know he wouldn't be covered. Then he's not too smart. I live in a hurricane zone, water damage from rising water is covered under flood insurance...that's the bottom line, and anybody that doesn't know that didn't read their policy.

We live in a coastal area in nc. Many of us were dismayed to find out after one of our last hurricanes that wind driven water-ie storm surge-does not qualify as flood water. Being trusting souls who believe in the goodness of others, and trusting our ins. agents to know what they were talking about, cost many of our residents everything they own with no recourse. We have flood as well as wind and water, but the ins. co's weaseled out on technicalities. I'm not taking up for Lott- just telling it like it is.
