WA Democrat Party Criticized For Mocking Christian Fish Symbol In Website
The Seattle Times ^ | December 14, 2005 | Ralph Thomas

The state Democratic Party is catching heat for posting an item on its Web site that parodies the popular Christian fish symbol commonly seen on the back of cars.

The item — a magnetic version of the fish, emblazoned with flames and the word "Hypocrite" alongside a cross — appeared last week on the Democrats' Web site. It was displayed along with other political-message magnets, bumper stickers and buttons that the party sells.

State Democratic Party Chairman Paul Berendt said he first found out about the hypocrite fish posting on Friday when someone from KIRO radio called to ask him to go on the air to give an explanation.

"The moment I became aware of it, I insisted it be taken down," Berendt said Tuesday. "I'm sorry if anyone was offended. It's embarrassing."

"I'm sorry if anyone was offended

That is not the same as saying "I am sorry that I offended you." It's saying "I am sorry you are such an unsophistcated intolerant redneck."

"The moment I became aware of it, I insisted it be taken down," Berendt said Tuesday.

You mean, "The moment I got caught..."

Note the nature of the company that the WA state democrat party deals with...

The fish magnet is copyrighted by a Mount Vernon company called Reefer Magnets. The company mostly sells magnets with pro-marijuana messages such as "Hemp is Patriotic" and "Jesus is coming, roll another joint."

They apologized and took it down, but that it happened at all is astonishing. Look for the lamestream media to bury the story.

They have not yet begun to feel the full effects of God's wrath.

Not that I have any inline knowledge of or about God's wrath, just that I know He is not mocked.

Berendt said he wasn't sure what the fish symbol is supposed to mean but said he thinks it is aimed at "people who claim to be pro-life but are for the death penalty."

Tookie types asked for the dirt nap when they murder and rape.

Tiny babies don't ask to be killed.

Big difference.

Nothing could be more consistent than being against abortion and yet supporting the death penalty. Both stances affirm the value of human life. In the latter instance, the value and sacredness of human life is affirmed by the administration of appropriate punishment to those who would take it unlawfully.

So, it is as I have always suppected, Democrats are not Christians. If they were they would NEVER have put up such a sign.

They claim they weren't aware of it, that it was done by an outside consultant. Speaking for myself, I'm skeptical.

This is widespread within the political parties. The main sign company Pugetopolis conservatives use to print yard signs designed and sold the ubiquitous NO IRAQ WAR signs.

In Kitsap the only sign shop printed a series of nasty Bush signs for the kooks in Port Townsend and did most every conservative sign too.

Unfortunately, there isn't much choice here and the printers print what the customers ask for, I suppose.

Cool! Are you at home? We have off from Dec 23 to Jan 2. I am still stupidly trying to get my Phd. I have to write ch 1 and 2 by tomorrow. I was caught up with a guy all quarter and put everything off until, literally the last day. I took a sick day off today. Cough, cough!

What kind of stuff are you doing?

(I guess we are beefing up this thread anyway!)
