I like to imagine the president holding McCain in a half nelson on the floor of the Oval Office during the discussions.

It didn't work out very well when Bush decided not to veto the McCain campaign reform bill, either. This is rotten legislation, and the President is a fool to agree to it.

Actually, since McCain's stock is pretty high right now it might help Bush's numbers. Of course most conservatives don't like this deal, but moderates and independents just might.

McCain is a traitor. His punishment will be to never be nominated by his party for President.
To: Dubya
McCain will rue the day he played this despicable game with the lives of our citizens.

There should be limits, but I'm not going to lose sleep over panties over some terrorist's head. If your son or daughter's life were at stake, and you could get an answer that might save them by 'degrading' some SOB mad killer, would you hesitate? If you would, then you're not the kind of leader our military needs, and not much of a mother or father either.
To: RockinRight
No kidding.
The only thing President Bush could do now to rescue his intergrity, and to undercut this show-boater would be if gave McCain the same Double-Cross that McCain gave with his Gang of 14 on the democrats Senate filibuster of judicial selection, to fend off a "done deal" on the 'nuclear option'.

Excuse me? How is McCain a traitor?
Please don't throw that accusation around lightly.

the first sentence is incredibly misguided and deliberately libelous! Well, then why don't you explain it to the rest of us who are convinced Bush caved to McCain, the traitor, hummmm?

After that, GWB should be impeached.
Have you heard of or understand the ticking bomb exemption? That is, if we know of a ticking bomb somewhere and have a terrorist in hand, only then can we attempt to extract info about the bomb using any means available. The problem is, it is all about a ticking bomb and the only issue is how long will it tick before it goes off.
Ruling out torture is a BS ploy and it implies that we as Americans are suicidal or too stupid to know differently. Then there will be the time when torture is used, it is reported as such, and the congress then seeks articles of impeachment because it happened on the President's watch.
McCain and GWB lately are too stupid for words.
