December 15, 2005 -- IF Sen. Hillary Rodham Clinton really wants to run for president, it looks as if she needs a new strategy, because her tortured triangulation is now backfiring so badly that even draft-Hillary fans are mad at her.
In fact, draft-Hillary chief Bob Kunst who broadcast the first pro-Hillary TV ads of the 2008 cycle is so upset that he's mulling new ads to accuse triangulation champ Bill Clinton of betraying his wife politically.
Bill Clinton invented triangulation trying to grab the center and paint foes on both sides as extremists. It was great for him in the 1990s, when...

"I have never been able to understand why Dole ran. Certainly there were better candidates. "
Exactimundo! The GOP, in '96, begged Colin Powell to run but he refused. There was someone else, forget who, but the GOP ended up with Dole, who today is brilliantly funny and smart. He did not come off well vs clintoon in the debates and he appeared dour and too serious. Image is EVERYTHING, which is why hitlery hasn't a chance in hell, IMO.
LOL.

Hillary is different. The more she talks, the more she irritates everybody, except the hard Left, because she comes across as the humorless dogmatic socialist she really is.You're absolutely right. Say what you will about Bill Clinton he had the knack of connecting with people and Hillary just doesn't. The idea of Hillary Clinton sounds very formidable but the reality of Hillary is just the opposite. Her candidacy will evaporate once people actually start voting. She'll be the Ed Muskie of 2008.

It was great for him in the 1990s, when there was a political center, but today is an era of polarization. Yeah, in the 1990s, before blogs, FReepers, etc., you could get away with this. Fortunately, as Dr. Lecter would say, "But not anymore!"

Count me into the 'Anybody but Hillary' column. Although...part of me would enjoy watching her suffer in a debate with a George Allen, Mitt Romney or Condoleeza Rice. All are attractive, well-spoken people who exude warmth and charm (to me, at least).
And then there's Hillary...short, stout, schoolmarmy and always angry. Add the socialism and stir, and her 'appeal' will dwindle nationwide within the time it takes to watch a town hall format debate.
Just my take on it.

I'd love to see her legendary temper come out during a debate.

I've wondered if the stools for the town hall debate will be able to hold!

"True..but I don't see hitlery finding a 3rd party candidate..."
that would be John McCain - male, moderate republican, war hero.

I don't see hitlery finding a 3rd party candidate to run in the same way Perot did. Oh, yes, she will. McCain will never get the GOP nomination, and I imagine he would be happy to mess with the GOP candidate in return for a good position in a hillary admin. Maybe Sec. of Def.
There are other possibilities, but he's clearly one who would do it.
To: speekinout
actually, my thought was the hitlery and mccain will run as independents, hill as prez, mcpain as vp.
