Words fail me. I wonder why so many people prefer driving their own cars?
What is a MARTA token and why is illegal to see them?
And people wonder why there is such a rush to move to the country.
They are wasting taxpayer dollars on this? Unreal.
All the locals should boycott the system until the law is changed and the clowns who passed it are voted out. Vote liberal and get stuck with/on stupid.
This makes Atlanta look even dumber than our new theme song, thanks MARTA!
This is yet another object lesson of the abuse by government and of power...the jury, if I were serving on it, would not only find the man innocent but also would find for punitive damages against the governmental entities and employees that pursued this case AND THE DAMAGES WOULD CATCH YOUR ATTENTION.
My suggestion: Don't ride MARTA. If the Atlanta cops have nothing better to do with their time than to persecute people who ride MARTA, then don't ride MARTA.
Example of how government screws up everything.
They make a subway system. They conclude they don't want their people handling money. They make tokens. The tokens can be counterfeited. So they make a law making it illegal to counterfeit. But that is too hard to enforce, so they simplify the enforcement by banning the sale of tokens.
If you can't sell a token, you can't make enough money to make it worth your while to counterfeit them.
Makes perfect sense, just like the law that gave farmers a tax break by including HUGE trucks from depreciation rules (Government makes taxes, then decides tax code is a good way to encourage business, makes a depreciation tax credit, business gives their executives really nice cars, government thinks that's bad, takes away credit for vehicles, farmers complain because they actually USE vehicles for business, congress puts big trucks back, Auto companies build huge luxury trucks for professionals, they buy them and depreciate them for business tax.
Then Bush comes along, accelerates business tax credits to spur the economy -- and he is accused of favoring his rich buddies giving them a tax break for Hummers.)
Looking for something in the Letter of the Law.
I heard about this on Boortz yesterday. I hope that the guy takes this to a jury trial, and I wish that the jury could award the guy all sorts of damages...

A nation of laws .... not justice.
Put your money in the machine which is set up to allow you to punch in your route and dispense a date/time stamped ticket for your ride that day.
For commuters, a card or some kind of RFID device (I do know that MARTA has been around for a while, but hey how about updating the system every now and then?) to validate their route and spit out a ticket for that day's ride.
How do you spell "common sense"?
While government does this, thousands of real crimes go unpunished.
