‘Du bist Deutschland!’ — ‘You are Germany!’ — which is meant somehow to pep up glum Hun couch potatoes.

Maybe that's what got them so depressed in the first place. Someone didn't think that campaign all the way through!

I don't know if all the thread readers know this but they got in trouble for this because the Nazi's used it as a slogan when they were trying to pump up German Nationalizm in the 1930s.

I'm an American and live in Trier, Germany. The ads come on in the cinema before a film starts and it is as ridiculous looking as it sounds.
