The coverage didn't cut it, Alex Chan felt, so he decided to tell his version of the recent violence that rocked his suburb north of Paris.

But rather than a blog or video diary, he turned to a new computer game that allows players to produce a short film and post it online.

He made it with English subtitles "to correct what was being said in the media, especially in the United States, who linked what was happening, the riots, to terrorism and put the blame on the Muslim community," said Chan, a practicing Buddhist.

This is posted on the same day as the following

A group of Islamic militants detained on Monday in the Paris region have indirect contact with al Qaeda's leader in Iraq, Abu Musab al-Zarqawi, French Interior Minister Nicolas Sarkozy said.

Four hundred police detained 25 people in a string of dawn raids.

They were suspected of financing Islamist militancy by staging armed robberies.

The film tells the story of three black youths who suffer from racial discrimination and end up throwing bombs at cars and buildings.

"They become angry and maybe they have no other way to express themselves, and finally this is the only way they have of getting heard. That's why I picked this title, `The French Democracy,'" Chan told The Associated Press. "It's a little ironic, in the sense that these youths, for now, have preferred using petrol bombs rather than vote ballots to make themselves heard."

(Slaps forehead) Sacre Bleu! Mr. Chan, you are an idiot! Resorting to violence is always the LAST resort, not the FIRST!

Well said.

I watched this terrible thing. Who needs reality when you can just spin and twirl digital marionettes to tell your point of view?

Goebbels would be proud of this...

Scary.

"Tolerance" reaching new levels. Violent crimes aren't crimes at all, they are calls for help. We must nurture and coddle these poor, neglected misunderstood individuals.

My understanding is the riots were caused by disgruntled mimes who lost their tickets on the way to a Jerry Lewis film festival.

So terrorism is protected speech! I can see why the media will love this. The war on terrorism is really a war on free speech. Those evil imperialistic repressive Americans just wish to surpress free speech! Call the ACLU. Let the lawsuits begin!

...do you mean Jacques Tati, perhaps?

I see. Rioting is really just a form of performance art.

I originally thought it made sense to blame the rioting by Muslims in the Muslim community on Muslims, but this 'filmmaker' has set me straight. He explains the whole situation thusly:

"They become angry and maybe they have no other way to express themselves"

Whew! I knew there must be some logical explanation. In his next production, he will show how it is all Bush's fault.
