This Prime minister is dihonest and a crook. How can he get along with a guy like bush.
To: DieHard the Hunter
The Last "Conservatives" were NOT conservative. They were nothing but Red Tories. In any event, they certainly maintained a good relationship with our best ally. To this very day, Mulroney and Bush Sr. are friends.!!I'm sick to death of the American Bashing in this country. How smug and how rediculous while we sit under her wing of protection!! One day America just may STOP trading with Canada for a few months. Canada would be on it's Arse.

He can't!! He can't even get along with his own party. That's why he HAS to be the Dicktator of it. No liberal gets to vote their own conscious or they are out!!

I agree with you 100%. I imagine it had nothing to do with pollution, as it did with trying to eliminate competetion. When libs start preaching the environment, they have anti-capitalism up their sleeve.
It amazes me how a state like MT will vote for Bush, yet have an idiot like him in the senate, though his protectionism would probably appeal to some there. I believe their gov is a Dim as well. Burns is a Rep.
Baucus is the one responsible for the lumber issue, is that not correct? And beef trade to a degree, I imagine that the Japanese closing their borders would have a big influence on something like that. The Japs are tough to please when it comes to something like that.

Something Canadians fail to understand is that although the Democrats talk nice about Canadians, that is as good as it gets. Kerry is an ultra protectionist. If he would have won, we may as well have kissed our export industry goodbye. Yes, I am sure the entire environmental movement was hatched by communists trying to find a way to discredit capitalism - since they can't sell communism on its own merits.
I don't understand Montana. It was that state's judiciary that became involved with the beef ban. I am not sure if Baucus was involved or not. But in my opinion, it was nothing more than an attempt to gain a trade advantage for Montanan cattlemen, and had nothing to do with health concerns.

I yearn for the Social Credit days. The Party we've got right now in B.C. is really a coalition party of former Socreds, former Reformers, Conservatives and some Liberals. At least they are pro-business and fiscally conservative.
Honestly if the immigration continues in B.C. the way it has gone for the last number of years there soon won't be many whites left. This sickens me. Vancouver is probably more than half Asian and East Indian Now!! Then we have all those coming here to retire. What do you want to bet that Martin is suddenly having would be immigrants accepted by the thousands right now?

Mulrony, in his last term, was almost universally despised in Canada, most particularly in the West (anywhere to the left-hand-side of Ontario). Perhaps Bush Sr should choose his friends more carefully.

Dam'n straight: you're not the first and you won't be the last. Yanks get bashed in NZ too. There's a great broadcast that was done by a great Canadian broadcaster, Gordon Sinclair in 1973. It's called "The Americans". You can hear it here:

It wasn't so bad, was it, under WAC Bennet, Bill Bennet, Grace McCarthy? Even Van der Zalm was plenty entertaining, and did alot of good as an MLA -- even long before he became Premier. Good ol' SOCREDS. Those were the days!
(Remember Fantasy Gardens? Great place for a wedding... Remember Expo '86, the party to end all parties?)
And look what has followed! How many NDP Premiers and pollies have gotten into trouble with the law, or in breach of ethics?

I know that die hard but my point is that our countries at least had good and peaceful relations with each other. I'm not a fan of either man.

It's very much like your tagline suggests: Western Canadians cannot win in a corrupt system. For that matter, neither can Quebecois (which is why they want out). The Maritimes have never really "won". The Territories have never really been enfranchised and have no skin in the game.
So that leaves...

I was only a teenager in their days. What amazes me is how conservative governments are harshly punished for their sins. What Vanderzalm did is nothing compared to the corruption of the NDP government. And the Federal Liberal sins make Mulroney look like a sheepish school boy who pulled some girls pony tail. Yet his party was decimated.
I dont care at all for Colin Hansen and his self righteous tirade against tobacco companies. Taking tax from cigarettes and then suing companies for health care costs is pretty damn cynical. At least dont put on the airs of self righteous anger. But the BC Liberals are the only party that are pro-mining and pro-oil exploration and that was enough for me. The Unity Party is too wishy washy talking about alternative fuel research, ect
The immigrants you mentioned may actually be an asset to the political process. There seems to be a fair number of East Indians in the CPC; and most Chinese I know tend to lean right. Especially when it comes to protecting family values. I also regard their (East Indian) enemy my enemy (Moslems). A complete contrast to immigrants in the GTA, which are feeding off the welfare state. I understand there are quite a number of Trinidadians that live in Toronto.

Probably had a lot to do with the Vietnam War? American bashing is centuries old in Europe. Essentially an elitist attitude against the unsophisticated peasants who founded a nation. Kind of sounds like modern American liberals.

I guess I'll never figure out why anyone here would have wanted Kerry here either?? Then again, little things like facts and logic are often lost on liberals.
From google, that was a photo of some race that he did, not really in reference to anything.

I suspect it goes a long time before that: to when the Americans burned down Yorktown (now part of Toronto) during one of their clashes with the British (was it the War of 1812?) As I recall my history, British troops from what is now Canada raided Washington DC in retaliation and set it alight.
Then, during the American Civil War, a group of Irish volunteer raiders from the North crossed the border and invaded Canada, in retaliation for British support of the South. A group of Canadian volunteers from university fought the intruders and chased 'em back across the border.
Later, Canada and the US nearly went to war deciding where the border ran on the West Coast.
In my view, peaceful co-existence between Canada and the US has always been a finely-balanced thing.

Got to love De Gaulle, taking credit for the liberation of France. He was an Anglophobe.
The reason America had Thirty two religions is that it didnt massacre its Protestants as did the French. I consider the French Revolution as the birth of communism. Dante advocated wealth distribution. There were French thinkers prior to the French revolution that were advocates of laisse faire values, but their voices were drowned out by the murderous, anti-clerical, anti bourgeois mob.
I have Revels book. It should be an interesting read.
