Two years ago, we were $8000 away from being affected by the AMT. Last year, we were only $1000 away. This year, we're going to get hit with it hard.

If you don't mind, can you tell us roughly how you are getting snagged? My understanding has always been that the people who are getting hit with the AMT are moderate income people who have a mortgage deduction and more than two or three children for whom they are able to claim, in addition to the personal exemption, the $1000/child CREDIT.
