Me too, but let's remember that the f-ing French cheered our arrival, and the Germans celebrated Reagan's "tear-down-this-wall," and look at their gratitude today. This is necessary, and we would have to do it even if they didn't particularly like us, but don't expect them to be loving allies in 20 years. They may be---hope they are---but history shows people have short memories.

Every generation must defend liberty for its children. Our dads did it for us in the snows of France and Belgium and on the waters of the Pacific. Today's soldier perpetuates the heritage, but we can never expect peace and goodwill to be permanent.
As long as this world lasts, evil will rise again. You are correct in saying that mankind has a short memory and little sense of history.
