This so-called "crisis" is anything but. It's extremely hard to lose money on a movie these days. Looking at domestic office $$$ in this day & age is ridiculous. Movie studios also make tons of money on:

* Foreign box office
* DVD sales
* Selling the rights to pay-per-view
* Selling the rights to cable movie channels (HBO, Cinemax, etc)
* Selling the rights to cable & network TV (TNT, CBS, etc)

When you add that all up, movie studios are doing just fine. In fact, many would say they are doing better than ever.

Don't forget marketing tie-ins, licensing, and product placement, too.
