I had posted an article earlier this morning, about how the remains of one of our troops may have been handled like freight. In the process I received this and it really put into perspective the final journey home of our fine men and women who give the ultimate sacrifice for our country.
Please pass this along to friends and family.

I remember reading this when it first made the rounds. Thank you for posting it, because the emotions are just as great reading it today as they were then.

I recall it as well, but, as I read
SOLDIERS'S BODY SHIPPED FREIGHT - SPC. Matthew John Holley and then saw this posted it really made me think of brave young men and women.
Evidently, it had not been posted on FR, I did a search, so I thought it was amazing enough to share, to remind us those who serve and give the ultimate sacrifice for us. More importantly on how our troops care for one another.
Thank you for the comment.

I read this article through blurry eyes. Thanks for posting.
We, as a nation are fortunate and honored to have, in our midst, the likes of PFC C. Phelps USMC, LtCol M.R. Strobl USMC, those many persons mentioned in the article, and all the United States military personnel, present and past.
I salute them all.

This one deserves a lot of bumps.

A moving tribute. A slow ceremonial hand salute by a sole military escort dressed in dress uniform can grab the attention of anyone. Cargo loaders, construction workers, people standing nearby, and those who just catch a glimpse...it is given with respect from one soldier to another and not always in public view, but then again when it is in public view it can have the same effect as "Taps".
A moving tribute.

Thank you for posting this. It is a long read, and the screen kept getting blurry for some reason, but a good read nonetheless.

Let me wipe my eyes first.
This is a great, great narrative. And it is very common for returning KIAs. All over the counrty, the remains are treated with the greatest respect and dignity.
God bless America and our newest batch of heroes.

I miss him...
America misses all of its sons and daughters who have fallen, sacrificing for our well being....My family will never forget....
I told them about our trip. I told them how, at every step, Chance was treated with respect, dignity, and honor. I told them about the staff at Dover and all the folks at Northwest Airlines. I tried to convey how the entire Nation, from Dover to Philadelphia, to Minneapolis, to Billings, and Riverton expressed grief and sympathy over their loss.
No matter how hard the left wishes to turn this into another Vietnam for political gain, it will not happen. The stain of that period, the pain inflicted on the those that served and their families, has been replaced with remorse and compassion. Repentance, Atonement and love for America's children will never allow the left to turn a nation on itself again.
I did not serve in Vietnam, but I remember how those who served were treated. As a child I could not understand the actions of those who attacked and humiliated the troops. I saw the pain in my parents eyes as they witnessed these actions on TV. I vowed I would never allow that to occur again if I had any say....and I know there are millions like me who feel likewise...
My God's Grace, Protection, and Blessings be upon all who serve and their families.

Thank you for posting this magnificent account. It is a tribute too to the American people who love and support American heroes whether they be alive or dead.
To: Former Military Chick
my mission with PFC Phelps was larger than the Marine Corps and that his family and friends were not grieving alone.
Thank you for the post.....God Bless our Military!
