>>>This is your 'cause', eh, Keith? To tamp down the slightest hint of satisfaction that justice has been served? <<<
No.
But what some are doing here goes way beyond expressing satisfaction with justice being served. I see outright delight. Glee. The kind of pleasure one would express when their team won the world series or Superbowl...and I find that kind of expression to be reprehensible.
And I'll say it again, for the umteenth fricking time: Tookie got what he had coming. But it's not a reason to pop champagne and party like it's New Years.

I completely agree with you.
I'm firmly convinced that the media has an agenda in every story they report. I'm firmly convinced they WANTED to see another riot erupt so that they would have something major and "exciting" to cover for days now that the nation has gotten bored with the old Katrina news.
They are SCUM.

Thanks.
I've been feeling as well received as a black vinyl deck-chair at high noon poolside at the nudist colony for my point of view. It's nice to know I'm not alone in my discontent for the actions of some here.

I believe he was displaying (and I may be very wrong) how those who believe in Him and strive to live a life like Him should treat those who are sinful. The remedy for the womans sin was stoning to death. He intervened.
Ill never say there should be no civil penalty for crimes. Frankly, I fear a life in prison more than I would fear the death penalty.
But as I said, the messages given in the Bible are mixed with regard to the death penalty.
To: Keith in Iowa
He paid for his crime. However, celebrating is a bit unseemly to me.

Hey Mike Farrell, Snoop Dogg, and Jamie Foxx. Where were y'all when Terri Schiavo was being executed?

This is California. Justice is a rare thing out here; hence the celebratory mood.

He won the Noble Price did he not?No. But if he had, it doesn't matter. That award has been meaningless since Arafat and Carter got it.
Now everyone around the world will read his book.
It's only sold about 400 copies. More people have read your first post on Free Republic than Tookie Williams' book.
Too bad people get famous after they die but not before.
Tookie Williams was pretty darned famous before he died. Just not for book-writing and "peace-making".

Thanks for the Je$$e rant. That made *me* feel better too! LOL

had Arnie reprieved Tookie it would have seriously undermined your judicial systemNo question. Whatever your position on the death penalty, there was no basis for clemency.

Call San Quentin and ask to speak to Tookie.
Do this five or six times.
When the operator tells you, in complete exasperation, "I said TOOKIE WILLIAMS IS DEAD!" just say, "Yeah, I knew that. I just wanted to hear it again." :)
