South China Sea (Dec. 10, 2005) - Air Department and squadron personnel carry an emergency-landing barricade as they prepare to store it at the conclusion of a flight deck drill aboard the conventionally powered aircraft carrier USS Kitty Hawk (CV 63). In emergency situations, the barricade is stretched across the carrier deck to stop aircraft unable to return safely aboard, or to available sites ashore.
