I think you are missing the author's point. He is saying that those who support unlimited immigration call the Minutemen "racist crackpot vigilantes". The Washington crowd which wants a guest worker program should tackle the immigration enforcement problem instead of just insulting the Minutemen.

the minutemen(sixty second thugs)are not wanted nor are they need here in Arizona.I live five miles from the border and I see the so called minute men screwing with mexican-americans, just because they can,they are bullies,if you don't believe me come on down and check for your self.
