You were the first person to name call, on this thread; Mary!

Lindsey was a Conservative! Then, once he became Mayor, he had a mid-life crisis, or went completely insane; I don't know which. All I know is that everyone who knew him and knew him well, never saw it coming and were shocked, yes, SHOCKED, not to mention disgusted, by what he became. His record, as Senator, gave not the slightest hint to what he would turn into later on.

And yes, long before the general public knew, his friends, who had worked to get him elected mayor, knew, because he became a totally different person in private.

Lots of people come and go...it's the nature of N.Y. and always has been.

"You were the first person to name call, on this thread; Mary!"

You mean where I mistook you for human ? Oh, I sincerly apologize.

"Lindsey was a Conservative! Then, once he became Mayor, he had a mid-life crisis, or went completely insane; I don't know which."

=buzzer sounds= Oh, so sorry, Chester. What do we have as a parting gift for our contestant, Vanna ? Ah, yes, it's a fact-filled bitchslapping coming to you from yours truly. No, Chester, Lindsay (spelled with an "a", not an "e") was NEVER a Conservative, not in any shape, manner, or form. Lindsay was a hardcore left-winger from the get go. His distinguished predecessor in Congress, Frederic René Coudert, Jr., was a bonafide Conservative. But like the destructive trash of today's era, the RINO establishment types demanded Coudert vacate his seat otherwise "we wouldn't win" (sic). They insisted on ramming the aformentioned Lindsay scum down the voters throats in the Silk Stocking district, and downhill did things go from there...

"All I know is that everyone who knew him and knew him well, never saw it coming and were shocked, yes, SHOCKED, not to mention disgusted, by what he became."

What, you didn't expect a radical liberal to GOVERN as a radical liberal ? My, you are an intellectual behemoth.

"His record, as Senator, gave not the slightest hint to what he would turn into later on."

His record as Senator ? Chester, fortunately the state of New York was never subjected to his services in the Senate. He was a member of the U.S. House. You've been corrected AGAIN.

"And yes, long before the general public knew, his friends, who had worked to get him elected mayor, knew, because he became a totally different person in private."

Then we know whom to blame for that abomination.

"Lots of people come and go...it's the nature of N.Y. and always has been."

It is estimated ONE MILLION NEW YORK CITY RESIDENTS fled during his 8-year reign of terror. Nowhere in the history of the United States, no city, no political entity, had before (or since) seen that level of mass exodus that it witnessed between 1966-1980 (since Lindsay's damage continued unabated clear into the Koch Administration -- and for that matter, it wasn't until Giuliani that a lot of Lindsay's POLICY damage was corrected). Yes, Chester, it took nearly FORTY YEARS to undo even part of the damage America's Worst Mayor inflicted upon the nation's largest city. I am not surprised one iota to see you trying to excuse and take up for him. Of course, the one positive thing I can say for Lindsay is that he had the common courtesy to finally do something he should've done before he darkened the Republican Party's doorstep... he switched to the Democrat Party. You'll note as soon as he did that, they had even less use for him than we did. The 'Rats may be evil and ignorant, but they know political AIDS when they see it.
