I think you need to take the time to re read this article. You entirely missed the point the author was trying to make.
I did read the article and was addressing the reality of how moms acted when they voted for Clinton. They were taken in by slogans which were not beaten by the stupid party. Most moms don't have the time or interst to read. And...it is true the moms who do not read have gotten a different slogan now and are no longer voting liberal. But...that will change with the next dominate slogan. Nothing is set with these voters. And they are men and women. They don't read. The are attracted to slogans - surface feel-good or feel-safe mantras.
