Listen to Dr. Terry Grossman, 58, author of "The Baby Boomers' Guide to Living Forever" and operator of a Denver anti-aging clinic: "As an official member of the boomer generation, I do not believe it was intended for us to die. We were special right from the get-go--dying wasn't part of our script."

Wow!

I agree with you, LouAvul. I am also a boomer. The arrogance and self-centeredness of Dr Grossman is almost beyond comprehension. He should have thought through this "not going to die" stuff before he and his peers legalized abortion and slowly-but-surely, drip-by-drip, ushered in euthanization of the elderly and "inconvenient." Depending on how he raised his own children, in the not-too-distant future, he may find himself on the receiving end of everything he worked so hard for.

How arrogant and ironic!

Poster for the boomer view of the "inconvenient": here.

Neues Volk or "New People" was the National Socialist eugenics rag, technically the monthly of the "Racial Policy Office." The poster text reads: "60,000 marks is what this birth-defective will cost the public over the course of his lifetime. Fellow citizens, that's your money too!"

That could have been taken verbatim from the writings of Princeton "bioethicist" and (of course) boomer, Peter Singer. Retarded? Weak heart? MS? CP? Hey, Peter's got a one-oven-fits-all final solution for you. "Killing a defective infant is not morally equivalent to killing a person," he writes. "Sometimes it is not wrong at all."

To me, Peter Singer sums up the downside of the self-absorbed boomers. It will be amusing to see them suddenly become voices of compassion as the infirmities of age set upon them.

... he may find himself on the receiving end of everything he worked so hard for.

It's almost guaranteed. The liberal Boomer control over political decisions is already diminishing, and with the exposure of and clamp-down on voter fraud in the next few years it will become more painfully obvious to big government proponents of both parties.

The younger working Americans are getting squeezed from every direction due to the policies enacted by people who are either already retired or nearing retirement. Over-taxation from every level of government, over-regulation, bloated bureaucracies, open borders, off-shoring of entire industries, etc., etc., -- this squeezing will force the younger eligible voters to get politically active at earlier ages than if the elders had planned responsibly for the nation's future.

Boomers will see electorial defeats starting in 2008, and by 2012 their grey-voter issues will be completely trampled into the mud. I expect we'll see means testing for social security, wealth taxation on the retired, lower taxation on the productive working citizens, more tightly controlled borders and immigration, dismantling of EPA, ESA, medicare/medicaid, social services at all levels, total dismantling of tax-exempt status for dot.org type outfits of all kinds, including churches. It won't be done for revenge; it will be necessary for the survival of the nation.

For the record, I am also of the Boomer generation, but I am objective enough to see that the political decisions driven by the votes and demands of the Boomers since the early 1970's have created grave threats to the future economy and culture of the United States. Gen-X and Gen-Y voters will have enough numbers in 2008, and moreso in subsequent election cycles, to reverse some of the damage.

I'm sick of the Boomer Bashing.

Most of us have worked hard and played by the rules.
Many served and died in a war that the nation abandoned.
Many of us LIKE MYSELF volunteered and stood on the ramparts for the last half of the Cold War which we won.
Our votes brought on the Reagan Revolution.
Many of the most destructive social programs aren't our legacy. They are the legacy of an older generation.
The "Greatest Generation" came home from war and proceeded to break the piggy bank with deficit spending. THEY pushed for the expansion of Social Security and brought in the Medicare Monster.
