You have never met all parents. Some are just plain vile and deserve no respect what so ever.
Personal experience.
Respect must be earned but I believe all parents should be honored, no matter how bad they were. All of them have done at least one thing wonderful. They choose to let us live when they could have killed us.
Doesn't matter. You can stop them from doing something bad, but you've still got to be respectful to them.
