John McCain: "Christian Guard at Hua Lo Prison", "helped me understand power of my faith"
amazon.com ^ | December 2005 | John McCain

Posted on 12/10/2005 5:49:29 PM PST by freedomdefender

In Part Four of his new book, "Character is Destiny," McCain writes about his role as chaplain for Christmas service in his Vietnamese prison, and about a guard who snuck in at night to loosen the ropes that bound McCain, and then snuck in in the morning to tighten them before other guards could notice.

The guard said nothing while performing this kindness, but one time, in the yard, "I became aware of him as he walked near me and then, for a moment, stood very close to me. He did not speak or smile or look at me. He just stared at the ground and then, very casually, he used his foot to draw a cross in the dirt. We both stood looking at his work for a minute until he rubbed it out and walked away."

A very brave Christian. Such a small mercy would have exacted a terrible price if discovered. May God bless him, wherever he is.

Perhaps McCain is making obvious Christian statements to gain support for 2008.

"Perhaps McCain is making obvious Christian statements to gain support for 2008."

You dare to doubt his sincerity ?!?!?

And therefore he feels it necessary to wreck, subvert, and disable good and proven policy where ever he finds it -- advocating liberal views on both domestic and international issues while promoting himself as a "moderate republican" the whole time.

But how dare I question his actions when his resume has sooo many items on it, and with a water-mark even!

Do I sense a run for president coming up? Sorry if I'm too cynical.

McCain would use something like this for political gain? Nah not good old John McCain!
But that's quite a moving story if true. But I would guess that McCain's chances (At least here in Iowa) would be about 1% of getting any support for 2008.

This is the way McLame likes his Christians - secretly drawing crosses in the dirt in silence. He loves and is moved by Christians who don't mention it. Christians interfering with the liberal social agenda...well, they are not so lovable to the Media's maverick.

I've heard similar stories told by Aussie prisoners of
Japan during WWII...one story was of a guard who brought extra food,etc...secretly...so that the other guards wouldn't report him, which would have resulted in execution.

The Occupational Safety and Health Association has determined that the most dnagerous place in the world to be is between John McCain and a TV camera.

If he treats Iowa the way he did in 2000 most certainly. That was an unwise move to skip it.
