I saw on the news some marshal was saying he sizes up the passangers on who might be able to help him. Military haircuts, NYPD tee-shirt, etc.

He said most of the stuff is undercover. Asking the attendent to check on the guy that's been in the bathroom a little too long, then goes to "use" the restroom and does a search of the thing. So yes, perhaps their was a marshall on board.

There are very few cultures where this would happen: The USA, Scotland, Ireland and possibly Britain, Australia and ( a big maybe) Canada. The rest of the world's nationals would just sit and wait for "someone else" to get the job done. Individual initiative does not happen worldwide in such situations. Well done Deckard and the Magnificent 7! Thankyou! Are we witnessing the birth of a new sport? Played on Buses, Subways,Trains, Aircraft? I bet the Dims hate this sport! In flight football with Stewardess referees? ( LOL) I am e-mailing this story to Al Jezeera! This is a message for the Al Qaeda Mile High Club!

Air Marshals?? Who needs 'em?? Gimme some Angry Americans anytime! We can protect ourselves!!

(I am partially serious--I really don't have a fear of any substantive hijackings anymore....at least not on most flights. Americans on a plane will now rise to protect and defend--"Let's Roll!")

Urban legend. You could take out an entire window w/o people getting "sucked out". A .40 certainly would not cause any trouble.

I would still like an Air Marshall or two hanging around, but that is not possible on all flights. Now that a high jacking means almost certain death, most normal peoples survival instincts will kick in when threatened at 30,000 feet!

They have YET to gets authorization to carry a pistola..

Four and a half years post 9-11 and still no resolution on this fundamental defense for pilots and crew.
To me it is unreal that passengers have to do physical battle with threatening individuals such as described in this article.

Heh, heh. Good list, USF.

And what about the sufferers of "excessive flatulence disorder" (like Hitler)? Those are the guys that on long flights make bi-polars like me go CRAAAZZZYYYY?
