I know that when I poll people, I always waste my time by asking questions in reverse order. /sarc

I think I'd email NBC and ask them about it. Seriously. They're getting a little gunshy these days (and a mention of your participation in online political discussion would be a nice nudge).

This is called "Selective Reporting." CBS called it fake but accurate.

Now, it seems to me that they're screening for right way/wrong way opinions as opposed to age group. Why else would they have asked that question before asking my age.
It could have been an honest mistake but you are right. If screening for age group that would have been the first question.

I think I would e-mail them with your concerns and see if they respond. But please don't hold your breath.

"Oh, I'm sorry. The computer is screening for age groups and we're not looking for opinions from your age group at this time. Maybe we'll call you for your opinion later."
I'm sure when their Stalinist poll is released they'll include all of the data.
Or maybe not. Maybe the good liberals are fishing for data in their usual fashion.

Very interesting...and not at all surprising.

I would have wanted to say that the country is headed in the wrong direction but not the way the media wants to promote.

I'm surprised that they even told you that they weren't going to use your response.
To: alnick
This would absolutely not happen in a valid sample survey. These people are deliberately skewing the results.
It would be GREAT if we could find someone who gets called, responds 'wrong way' (the response they want), then gives the same age group. If that respondent don't get thrown out, I'd say that's rock-solid evidence of the dishonesty of the pollsters.
To: alnick
Maybe you should have then said "Oh, I'm sorry, I lied about my age...what age are you looking for exactly?".

NBC Polls 'random adults'.
They oversample Democrats versus Republicans.
They undersample Republicans.
They hide Democrats in their Independent column.
They ask leading questions.
Here, they reject you after you say the country is headed in the 'right direction'.
A real pollster will ask you who you are first and then ask the pertinent questions.
They asked the right track / wrong track in order to fulfill the predetermined results of their FAKE POLL.
It is propaganda from the left.
My tag-line says it all.
