All eyes on Clinton as 2008 presidential race nears [Klinton Kool-Aid]
Austin American-Statesman ^ | December 10, 2005 | By Scott Shepard

NEW YORK — The presidential torch may have been passed this week, almost unnoticed, from Bill to Hillary. Hillary Clinton is running for re-election to the U.S. Senate next year. But it was 2008, not 2006, that commanded the attention of the more than 2,000 New Yorkers who jammed a swanky nightspot for a Clinton fundraiser Tuesday night. Sen. Hillary Clinton did not attend the fundraiser at which her husband, Bill, revved up the crowd for her 2006 re-election race. She has not commented on the 2008 presidential election, but she is already a dominant presence in the polls, well ahead of 2004 Democratic nominee John Kerry.

“And when Bill Clinton walked on stage, the dance floor lit up from the glow of hundreds of cell phones held aloft to photograph the ex-president, a communal gesture strangely reminiscent of his own boomer generation raising cigarette lighters at rock concerts.”

Don't remember that... but this quote reminds me of all the church-burnings he saw... but never happened.

Scott Shepard should know better. In Austin, all EYES are on the Texas Longhorns as they prepare for USC.

So long as the Right can prevent a single-issue third party candidate that appeals to the right-center crowd, Hillary will never win the White House.

Hillary will pull a page out of Bill's playbook (Ross Perot) and make every effort to draft the 5% solution (all she needs is a third party candidate guaranteed to take 5% of the vote) into the race.

I'm praying none of the single issue "border security" or "consumption tax" advocates take the bait.

"I'm praying none of the single issue "border security" or "consumption tax" advocates take the bait."

She'll do better than a single-issue candidate. She'll draft a younger, more-reasonable sounding version of Pat Buchanan, who promises to bring the military home from Iraq and put it on the Mexican border, put up tariffs to protect GM, Ford, and other American manufacturers, and takes an unambiguous position on social issues (no to gay marriage, yes to prayer in the schools, no to Roe v. Wade.)

That candidate could easily capture 10-15% of the vote if our party doesn't nominate a principled committed conservative.

I don't think your prayers are going to go any higher that the ceiling on this one. It's going to happen because of Bush's continually pushing his phony guest worker program. "A rose by any other name is still a rose" and amnesty by any other name is still amnesty. This is a huge issue and the Constitution Party is going to pick it up and run with it as well as Hillary.

HOOK 'EM HORNS !!!!! I can't wait until January 4th. As a "Side-Bar", to me it's a Red State/Blue State thing. I know, everybody thinks I'm crazy for letting politics dictate which team I root for but that's me.

I am a UT Arlington grad, however.
