Filmmaker analyzes Michael Moore's work

Michael Wilson gave students a glimpse into what happens when you try to take on a man like Michael Moore.

The filmmaker was in town Wednesday night to talk about his movie "Michael Moore Hates America," speaking to a packed room in the Rutgers Student Center on the College Avenue campus,

According to Wilson, the film started as out as just a social experiment. After seeing "Fahrenheit 9/11," Wilson wondered, "How can two blue collar guys from the Midwest see the world in such diametrically opposed ways?"

Wilson - who hails from Minnesota - guided the audience through highlights from his film, tracing his quest to track down some answers from Moore and addressing issues that he encountered along the way.

Wilson explained the "gray area" that documentaries fall into - as a movie, not news, but not fiction either.

His critique focused more on Moore's methods than his message. Particularly, he focused on what he describes as Moore's habit of deceiving the audience for his own convenience as a filmmaker.

I would absolutely love to start making films using the deceptive methods for presenting information.... I bet you a million bucks (since i don't have nearly the political leanings of Moore) that my films would be attacked and villified by MSM as propaganda.

Isn't this what we used to call advertising? Commercials? Moore's just happened to be 1-2 hours long.

I have to say that this article COULD have been a shrill piece against Wilson...but it is quite objective. It points out what Wilson said without using the words "so-called" or "allegedly" when describing Moore's manipulation of facts. A quite different piece would have been found at University of Connecticut (where Ann Coulter spoke) I give Young republicans a lot of credit. They are the true independent thinkers on college campuses today and take a lot of abuse...but such abuse and name-calling against them focuses their thinking and gives practice in logical presentation of argument....something the liberal side is unable to do.

Forgot to add, too bad Moore's ad-work isn't regulated like the drug companies' ads. We'd have a loooong list of warnings at the end of his film. lol

The idea that MSM considers the works of Lumpy Riefenstahl to be "documentaries" is a joke.

Of course, these same people believe they do "journalism."

Uh ... maybe that's because, by your own admission, they WOULD be.

The answer is dollars. Moore has found his fools and a way to separate them from their money.

If there was some possible way for Moore to make tons of money off conservatives ( requiring an infinite stretch of one's imagination ) he'd jump to this side in a heartbeat.

So, I guess the approrpirate question is, if I use the same deceptive techniques to represent information as Moore, then why doesn't Moore get called out by the MSM?

You know the answer. The MSM subscribes to the same propaganda.

Where is Michael Moore? Good question! I suspect he had a botched plastic surgery operation at the fat farm and now looks like Michael Jackson.
