Are you people certain that this is a protest/counter protest and not a reenactment of Chosin Reservoir 1950?
Thanks for the job you've been doing. I'm sure the troops are appreciative.
Well, so far there has been no gunfire (which is a bit unusual, given that it's D.C.)! :-p
It started out on March 30, 2005, as a counterprotest to the obscene display that Code Pink was putting on; but it has grown over the past nine months to the extent that we consistently have enough people to have one corner of the street (directly across from the evil-doers) dedicated to an anti-Code PinkO/leftist demonstration and the other, larger corner (on higher ground, too) dedicated to a bright, positive, colorful, uplifting and thankful demonstration of support for our military and our country. You see, unlike our single-minded, hate-America adversaries, we are capable of multitasking.
Some of our folks move from the pro-troops corner to the anti-leftist corner, and others pick one and stay focused on their message.
The lefties really, really, hate to arrive week after week and be constantly harangued by men and women who have served this country in the military; and it's especially upsetting to them that our side has more women participating than their "womyn4capitulation" side. Some have come positively unhinged by the fact that articulate, strong, witty, educated conservative women are talking back to the man-hating womyn and woman-hating men on their side.
It's coming up on Christmas, and our wounded servicemen and women are far from home - and trying to heal while missing their homes and their family holiday routines and traditions must be tough on them. If you are in the DC area, and had a day off today because of the snowfall - come on out tonight. Help us spread a little holiday cheer to the wounded warriors and their families at Walter Reed.
Bring your signs, or use the ones we have collected over nine months. Dress warmly and bring a smile. We'll have coffee, tea, cocoa and cookies, but eat supper first - I think it will be too cold for pizza. It was last week!
P.S. The DC Chapter has a suprise for you tonight.
On March 15, 2004, there was a preliminary skirmish, more than a year before the regular dueling protests between FReepers and Pinkos started. The leftists protested at Walter Reed as they traveled in a mock funeral procession from Dover Air Force Base, Delaware to Walter Reed Army Medical Center to the White House. Doctor Raoul solo FReeped them at Dover AFB, whereas other DC Chapter members FReeped the leftists at Walter Reed and at the White House per below:
After-Action: DC Chapter FReeps Left for Exploiting War Dead and Wounded (March 15, 2004)
A few hours after the leftists' first blood dance outside Walter Reed, the FReep of leftists at the White House occurred and included a direct FReep of Chief Pinko Medea Benjamin near the White House
More than a year after that skirmish at Walter Reed, the leftists returned to Walter Reed for a week straight in late March of 2005.
We FReeped them on Wednesday, March 30, 2005 per the first link below.
Then the Pinkos decided to try their psych-op against war-wounded every Friday at Walter Reed. When we found out, we started counter-protesting them every Friday beginning on April 15, 2005. FReepers have been at Walter Reed peacefully counter-protesting the Pinkos every Friday since then, except that we missed one Friday in May due to exigent circumstances.
An apt comparison. At Choisin, Korea, UN troops were beaten badly. Feeling overconfident, the Communist Chinese announced their entry into the conflict, sending hardened guerillas. In spite of initial mass casualties, they had strayed beyond their natural territory (the 38th parallel) and ultimately were slaughtered by American marines.
It's also reminiscent of the Confederate Army, who won every battle on their homeland and lost terribly at Gettysburg, in Union territory.
The parallel to be made is that the left in this country gained a large and long foothold during and after Vietnam. Its tentacles are still with us in the persons of John Kerry and his ilk; but at last the patriots are waking up. We will not sit on our hands this time and allow our troops to be spat upon this time. The smackback has only begun, but it will continue until those misguided protesters nostalgic for the 60s retreat.
