I think the real question is -- can anyone reasonably expect any multinational company to have party loyalty?

Yes.

Disney.

The Chairman of the board is former democratic party senate leader George Mitchell.

The CEO (Michael Eisner) is a long time party fundraiser and democratic backer.

Almost everyone on the board, and most of the executives have strong ties to the democratic party in various ways (when I say fundraiser, I don't mean donor, I mean they paid to help raise money and solicted funds).

ABC donates over 70% of its political contributions to the democratic party and brings in millions more additional through fundraising activities.

Good luck even finding someone at the company to whisper that they are a republican, most of the executives wouldn't even call themselves independents, and the company is proud of the fact that is has been willing to sacrifise profits to take "stands" on social issues. (i.e. gay domestic benefits, gay day, etc).

Would this be a bad place to mention that....

1. On September 14, 2000, Rupert Murdoch served as the vice finance chairman of a Gore fundraiser in New York City.

2. Rupert Murdoch contributed $50,000 to Al Gore's election campaign.

3. Indeed, Newsweek.com at that time reported "Rupert Murdoch, the global media mogul, has been a longtime darling of political conservatives on practically every continent. These days, though, Murdoch is backing a candidate of a different sort: Democratic nominee Al Gore."

4. The 2000 Democratic convention was held in Los Angeles, in part, because owners of the Staples Convention Center agreed to allow the party to use their facility for free. As one of the co-owners, Murdoch had to approve the deal, which saved the Democrats as much as $10 million.

5. While serving as a visiting lecturer at Columbia University's School of Journalism in 2001, the former vice president selected a smattering of guest speakers to address his class: Alan Greenspan, David Letterman, and Rupert Murdoch.

6. Four days before the 2000 election, Carl Cameron of the supposedly right-leaning Fox News Channel turned a 1976 police report documenting George W. Bush's DUI in Maine into a huge news story. Fox headlined the story even after reporters for the AP and other news angencies took a pass. (Ultimately, 25 percent of voters said in exit polls the story did factor into their vote.)

In a panic over conservative dominance of free market driven talk radio, as well as a preceived right-wing bias at Fox News, the liberal establishment have made a whipping boy of Rupert Murdoch, who, in reality, is a close political ally and major campaign donor of Mr. Gore. Murdoch may be wealthy, but in light of the aforementioned revelations, he can hardly be classified an ultra-conservative.

2. Rupert Murdoch contributed $50,000 to Al Gore's election campaign.

Actually, him, his wife, and 2 of his kids made large donations, that was just one of them.

Murdoch always liked Al Gore, more then he liked Clinton, he does (did) hate Kerry.

Murdoch, to his credit, have done alot of interviews, spoken on camera, and gone along with articles written about him (the man ain't no recluse) about his politics and beliefs.

Machiveli is the word to use to describe him.

Consevative when it will win and helps him, liberal if it will win and helps him.

Politically, he makes no mistakes or gambles, he knows what helps, hurts, and can benefit him.

One of his sons is a conservative and more ideological then him, he was the head of the New York Post untill a few months ago, when him and Rupert had a falling out (business related and certain family issues).

That son is currently in Australia and now looks like he is out as heir apparent.

For what its worth, Murdoch calls himself "libertarian" and likes to use four letter words to describe Ted Turner.

Which I do find amusing.

Then they're not thinking. Their only job is to make money for the owners.

Which is why they have shareholder revolts.

Disney is the target of alot of shareholder advocate groups because of its hostility to shareholders.

I don't think their internal business problems are politically related, but I do think its a symptom of the arrogance held by many of its executives and the gall to ignore their main job of increasing shareholder value.

This should be a political advertizement for Giuliani.

This is the same Saudi Pri...prince who offered Giuliani $10M coupled with a screed against Israel.

Giuliani told him to shove it.

Puts Giuliani - in my opinion- head and shoulders above many other whores playing businessmen and politicians.

I would not believe this story if it were not for the fact that this year News Corp held a "HOLIDAY PARTY" rather than a Christmas Party.
