I don't agree. Important life lessons can be taught and learned through the use of parable.
Strict literal interpretation of the Bible is not the only way to experience the truth within. I'm pretty agnostic, but there are plenty of important truths therein.

There are parables in the Bible. Jesus told a lot of them. However, the Bible is not one big parable.
Strict literal interpretation of the Bible is not the only way to experience the truth within.
Of course. If everyone followed the Ten Commandments, the world would be a better place. To me, that validates the rest of the Bible.
I'm pretty agnostic, but there are plenty of important truths therein.
