Do not worry, it will not happen.

So what's the story here....why didn't gilchrist run as a repub?

Let me guess. Could it be that the Repubican Party doesn't believe in border control or illegal immigration?

What would your prediction be if such a poll were to be taken?

Maybe too little too late. I honestly see bigger changes coming, with the power of both the large parties eventually being reduced, as more choices become available, and people's attitudes changing away from the same old power brokers. Just like our auto industries of 30 or so years ago. Things are going to change.

they will cause Republican candidates to lose seats in the House by splitting the GOP/Conservative vote...

Ha! You answered your own question: GOP/Conservative vote.

Yup... and in the interim, they will cause Republican candidates to lose seats in the House by splitting the GOP/Conservative vote

If the Republicans don't want that to happen, they know what they need to do.

The liberal socialists have never gotten out of power. The sooner everyone understands that, the sooner we'll start making progress.

This so called third party spoiler runs on a party platform agreeing with your tagline. If the the current parties were doing what we elected them to do, we wouldn't need to worry about third parties now would we?

... and then, they'll spend lots of money, and make the government bigger, and increase taxes, and create more regulations, and....

Hey! Wait a minute!

The Republicans are doing that now!

Never mind!

I think I may have lead you in the wrong way in my earlier post when I jokingly told you to ask Jim Robinson to make such a ridiculous poll between the President and someone like Gilchrist. I do not want insult President Bush and compare him to a nobody like Gilchrist who is an idol in the eyes of some immigration obsessed freepers.

In other words, your side would lose, big time. Not that it even needed to be stated.

Of course the Bush supporters would lose on an immigration policy question.

FR may have become a bigger tent when Republicans flocked here after the 2000 election cycle but most on this forum today part company with the president on his immigration policies.

So you don't think illegal immigration is a major issue, is that your take?

"Sometimes things have to get worse, before they ever get better."

Like Iran becoming a mullah infested hell hole?

Like gas ratioing and long lines?

Like a hostage crisis and an embarassing/tragic failed rescue op?

Like the atrocity at Waco?

Like the AWB?

Like the gun free school zones?

Like the persecution of "White Christian terrorists"?

Like the selling of nuclear weaponry technology/information to China?

Like having politicians screwing anything/everything in sight?

Like condoms on Christmas tree?

Like malaise?

Like the brownnosing of dictators?

Like taxation out the wazoo?

Like ignoring al-qaeda?

Like commiting fighting men/women to armed conflicts for PR reasons without giving them full support?

Like Darth Vader Ginsburg?

Like the various hacks on infesting the lower judicial system who define the term activist justice?

Like Sandy Burglar?

Like nuclear Kim Chi Ill?

Like Enron and assorted corporate corruption?

Like everything that is wrong with America today that is for the most part still unresolved even by 3 REPUBLICAN PRESIDENTS including one of the greatest President of the 20th Century?

If we didn't make these "sacrifices" in the first place, America would be 100 times better off. If it weren't for Nader, we would be stuck with the watermelon, fascist Dean wannabe Owl Gore. Until they gain clout, recognitioon, and votes, third parties benefit only one party: the Treason party.

Besides, there are somethings that a Demon will never do in a million years that the GOP, more or less, are willing to do.

Not commit treason.
Not undermine our troops.
Not leave the country vulnerable to foreign aggression.
Not advocate child murder.
Not try to mock, belittle, or dethrone the Lord.
Not indulge in sleaze and the coursening of culture.
Not sexualize our children.
Not shove the Second Amendment entirely into the paper shredder.
Not destroy the Constitution.
Turn this country into a socialist dictatorship.

And most importantly:

Allow conservative/libertarian men like Pence, DeLay, Reagan, Tancredo, Paul, and others into their party in the first place. If there is not a dime's worth of difference between them, these men would not have risen to the prominence they had today. It also shows that the party, at the very least, acknowledges the principle of conservatism/and traditional Republicanism.

It's far from perfect and the things they do p!$$ me off a lot at times, but, d@mmit, when it comes to the final stretch the GOP is the most America and Constitution friecndly party WITH ELECTORAL POWER we have. If everyone else and their grandmother are ready to jump into the Third party bandwagon, count me in. Until then, my God, a great guy like Gilchrist can't even beat a FREAKING DEM!

Does this mean do nothing at primaries? Hell no! Try to get Joe Bob, the guy to the right of Washington, to replace your unfavorite RINO if you can.

Does this mean vote straight ticket? One word: Lieberman. He replaced the most colossal RINO in GOP history and we are all the better for it. If the vote is between Zell Miller the third and some Olympia Snowe clone; be the jack@$$ for the day.

We must try to get the most rightward people as possible into power. If the most conservative guy didn't win the primary, that sucks but take a look at his opponent. He's a racebaiting maggot with welfare schemes up the wazoo and backing from the ACLU. You can't let a guy like that win. In any election, we must put the most rightward person POSSIBLE into power. Staying home and pouting doesn't help anyone. By all means, build up the Constitution, Libertarian, Washingtonian, Jeffersonian, Liberal Killing Parties or whatever. Just remember, if the most rightward person possible doesn't win, we could all look forward to things getting a lot "worse".

It is a major issue but comparing nobody like Gilchrist to President Bush is not just an insult to President Bush but to any person with an IQ above 80.

Yep President Bush will lose to Gilchrist (sarcasm to the most possible extreme).

Check my post # 8 since it applies to you and to others on this thread.
