Heads up. Rumsfeld in a great interactive interview with Jim Lehrer on PBS. Almost done now, hoping for a repeat later or on online video.
It's very worth watching how Rummie B&%#slaps O'l lib Jimmy, a must WATCH!
At the end where Lehrer was challenging Rumsfeld about the low numbers of predictd casualties and deaths before the war, Rumsfeld declined this opening:
I never utter predictions, especially about deaths and casualties, although we were worried about large casualties if the Iraqis used WMD.
But you in the press and some folks who were against the war were predicting 10,000 Coalition deaths in the first days and a million civilian deaths in the so-called "Siege of Baghdad.
Lehrer just annoyed me no end with his questions.
Jim Lehrer looked almost hostile that he could not nail Rummy
In response to Rumsfield's recounting his conversations with our troops in Iraq and how positive and optimistic they were, Lehrer tried to discredit him by saying that Rep. Murtha has said just the opposite. Lehrer is not stupid he knows that Murtha's claim to speak for the "real" beliefs of our troops is a bold faced lie.
The credence given to Murtha's lies, is a simple benchmark/litmus test for who in the media is betraying the country. If anyone had any doubt what political party Lehrer works for, tonight should erase that doubt.
Having worked in Iraq as a civvie this year, I know that Murtha is lying, as is Lehrer (and the other Rats).
Sure, folks don't like being deployed and away from their families, but everyone I knew was committed to doing their job, whether it was administering housing or chasing down bad guys (the BCTs).
Bitch, gripe, gripe. Of course things could be improved, but Murtha is addled and maybe insane to infer from anything he heard that the troops would prefer to end the mission. It's simply not true (Rats hear what they want to hear).
