Makes for a good Hollywood script but,

there is zero discution of what really matters,

propulsion , unlimited energy and how it works.

Take that and add that it supposedly takes 9 months to travel 37 light years ? How? By sheer speed ? If so then travelling that fast would mean a tiny speck of dust would slice through a ship like a hot knife through butter.

Yep, if the ship actually "travels" through the medium and somehow doesn't jump, as in a wormhole, Stephen Hawkings type deal.

Wormhole/warp technology?
Who knows. There are a lot of things we don't know yet.
There was a time we thought going faster than 50mph would kill a man.

Not if you divert power from the phasers to the main deflector array.

propulsion , unlimited energy and how it works.

Bob Lazar gave a detailed explanation of the gross anatomy of EBE propulsion systems. It's more point and click than polug and chug.

Maybe "dark matter" is the dust-free medium the craft move through?

Hey, don't you watch "Star Trek"? That's what that big Sensor Dish in the front is there to prevent! LOL

I've found two discrepancies in the text so far. First, the team never saw an Eben family with more than two children and then later they find some with 4 children.

Second is that towards the beginning, they say the C rations ran out in something like 2 years 8 months and then later you read that they "Carefully planned" 10 years worth of C rations.

Another discrepancy.

Boiling water doesn't get rid of "unknown chemicals" unless your talking about distilling it, which they don't specifically mention.
