The recruiter was floored. He did not understand why I wanted to be in a combat unit when I could be safe at a computer.
My ability to keep a inch and a half spread with an M-16 was the only thing that kept my Drill Sergent from killing me.
I was a city boy and walked to school and walked to about everywhere after age 3 because me family didn't own a car. The drill sergents thought I was a dud until they found that the country boys that never ever walked anywhere got tired after about 3 miles. I kept going just like the "Energizer Bunny".
