It would be a mistake to simply pull out of the UN, it needs to be dismembered, cut down to being what it was supposed to be.
A table and chairs for nations to gather and resolve issues, not a dictatorship ordering nations around, taxing the worlds people and implementing the hair-brained ideals of socialists and enviro-nuts.
The farce called Kyoto is an example of the wealth redistribution plans the UN has, sponsored by 3rd world dictators who want to essentially enslave the productive people in North America and provide a never ending welfare check.
This is being done through the claim that we somehow exploited these places by using up the environment, we must now "repay" them for what we took.
The UN is insane.

More likely, control of the Internet and a tax on email, web commerce; tax on foreign exchange transactions.
If we did quit, the financial crisis would become very real. Countries would pack up and go home. Peacekeepers and aid could be paid for and sent directly without corrupt officials taking their cut.
The real farce is the "World Court" at the Hague. Think that will wither and die? No, it will persevere courageously no matter what happens in New York.
