They said he failed the shoe test 5 times !!!
Well, they've got to be sure.
Perhaps they should have taken the shoes and fired some rounds into them to see if they explode... while he was still wearing them. Problem solved...
The rule msut be that you need to fail the shoe test at least six times to be detained. However, if you flunk the "I've got a bomb" test, you get your results immediately. And, there are no makeups.
But that just means he had something that swabbed similar to TATP. They never actually found any TATP on him.
It may well have been a test, he being sent in with trace amounts to test the system.
As far as I know, its pretty hard to walk down the street and accidently step in a puddle of TATP.
Maybe they tested him a 6th time and he passed, so they let him go.
Reminds me of the time I was renewing my driver's license. There was this 90-year-old woman who kept flunking the written test, so they let her keep taking it so she could pass. And the same day, there was a 90-year-old guy who couldn't pass the eye test so they let him keep doing it over with various pairs of glasses he brought along. He had about 6 pairs and he didn't know which ones were the ones that let him see.
