The first recorded persecution of Christians by the Romans was in AD 64, or about 30 years after the crucifixion. I was not refering to Roman persecution, but persecution by Jewish authorities. Up until approximately AD 64 the Romans considered Christianity to be an Jewish cult, and therefore 'tolerated' until Nero singled it out for persecution. However, Christians were persecuted by Roman and other civil authorities prior to this as docmented in Acts.
