Sounds as if that squirrel was not the brightest.

Well, he wasn't hiding all the acorns under the same leaf ... it was a different leaf each time. But, you're probably right about his brightness. I had dozens of squirrels in my yard and he was the only one using this particular method of storing acorns for the winter.
