as far as trouble, distributing (sell rent, etc) R can get you fired. there are some theaters and rental stores that have that as a policy. NC-17 and XXX are covered under the distribution of sexually explicit material.
also, i almost forgot, gov granola (MI) has already signed into effect law that restricts and imposes fines for distribution of ultra-violent video games.

The NC-17 rating and the X rating that preceded it doesn't necessarily mean sexual content. For instance the Matt Stone and Trey Parker had to make several edits to the South Park movie to avoid an NC-17, all of them based on language.
That's only because liberals ARE encouraging terrorists to kill.
