NEW YORK LEANS RIGHT -- WITNESS D'AMATO'S DEFEAT OF JAVITS and HOLTZMAN:
Time frame aside, this counterexample is laughable. D'Amato's defeat of incumbent Jacob Javits in the 1980 Senate Republican primary, and his win in the general election, are hardly examples of a highminded ideological victory. In the primary, D'Amato took advantage not of Javits' RINO leanings -- (the term didn't even exist then) -- but rather of Javits' 1979 diagnosis of generally fatal amytrophic lateral sclerosis. Some victory. What Javits did next actually confirms New York's leftist leanings and reinforces my argument to coalesce. Javits went on to run on the Liberal Party ticket, splitting the left-wing vote in liberal New York with Democratic Congresswoman Elizabeth Holtzman, thereby enabling D'Amato's 45% plurality victory. NOTE: Rather than the counterexample you claim it to be, this D'Amato-win scenario is precisely the paradigm for the Pirro camp to emulate. 'That Spencer guy' would be just the ticket to play Javits. Do you think he'd be interested?
SHE'S MARRIED TO THE MOB: I concede. You got me. Al is no Bill. Married to the same husband, Jeanine Pirro repeatedly won elective office, aggressively fought crime, reduced crime, fought for the vulnerable, the abused, battered, raped. The contrast with missus clinton's zipper-hoisted "career" of corruption and abuse could not be more stark. We used to execute rapists. Today we elect them president?
JEANINE IS HILLARY LITE Poppycock. Pirro will support: (1) Bush's national security and war-on-terror agendas, (2) Bush's judicial nominations, which is where the real leverage is on the abortion issue--NB prolifers!, (3) Bush's fiscal policies
