POWAY, Calif. (Dec. 7) - Federal agents gave reporters a peek Tuesday at about 40 pieces of antique furniture accepted by a former congressman as part of $2.4 million in bribes from defense contractors seeking government business.
It would be worth ten McCain-Feingold laws to see Howard Berman led out of Congress in handcuffs.
Lets get after the rest of them. I am sure this guy isnt the only Congresscritter who ever accepted gifts from Lobbyists and Contractors. Lets clean out the whole mess.
Lets clean out the ones taking Soros money.
I have never been so embarrassed by a Republican. As a Navy family my heart is also saddened that a war hero would stoop so low. Thank goodness that Cunningham had the decency to step down, unlike Bill Clinton.
You can bet the farm he isnt the only one that has taken bribes.
He didn't step down until caught.
He didn't come clean until it served his interest in a plea bargain.
There's nothing honorable or decent about this man, selling out our troops for bribes.
No arguement from me.
After he knew he could never survive the prosecution and to cut a deal to provide evidence on his co-conspirators. Yep... what a decent guy! (sarcasm!)
(Rep. Randy "Duke")Cunningham defends deal with defense firm's owner

(snip)If you believe there is something to defend here, please read these two articles first, then come back and tell me that there is anything decent about this man."My whole life I've lived aboveboard," Cunningham said. "I've never even smoked a marijuana cigarette. I don't cheat. If a contractor buys me lunch and we meet a second time, I buy the lunch. My whole life has been aboveboard and so this doesn't worry me."
Later, he added, "The last thing I would do is get involved in something that, you know, is wrong. And I feel very confident that I haven't done anything wrong."
Contractor 'knew how to grease the wheels'
ADCS founder spent years cultivating political contacts
San Diego Union Tribune, December 4, 2005Cunningham's Fall From Grace, Power
Running for Congress as someone 'we can be proud of,' he was greeted as a hero and celebrity. Then came the tirades and the corruption.
Los Angeles Times, December 5, 2005
My apologies for my prior response. I missed the "so" in your comment and read it as defending Cunningham.
However, I still recommend that anyone read the articles I linked. They are incredible in demonstrating the level of graft involved over a long period of time. I would guess that there will be more indictments before this is over.
