By my count, twelve United States senators are considering a run for president in 2008: six Democrats (Evan Bayh, Joe Biden, Hillary Clinton, Christopher Dodd, Russ Feingold, and John Kerry) and six Republicans (George Allen, Sam Brownback, Bill Frist, Chuck Hagel, John McCain, and Rick Santorum). For Biden, Kerry, and McCain it would be their second presidential campaign....

No doubt that Mizzz Rodham will also find herself a black ancestor that she can drag out during the campaign.

"WHY BARACK OBAMA SHOULD RUN FOR PRESIDENT IN 2008"
Because it wouldn't make any sense to run in 2009!

By the time '08 rolls around, we'll equal the hundred or so names California did for governor.

On the one hand, each day spent in the Senate gives Obama more experience and stature for his inevitable presidential campaign. But each day also brings with it an accumulation of tough votes, the temptations of bad compromises, potentially perilous interactions with lobbyists, and all the other behaviors necessary to operate as a successful senator.
In other words, try to run before anybody knows your true character and what you really stand for.
That seems to be the only strategy available for liberal presidential candidates.

Go for it Obama. Senators get elected President of the United States ever so often.
The the last time it happened it was JFK in 1962. The time before that it was Warren G. Harding in 1920. So it could happen. Looks like about every 40-50 years we get a Senator for President. That's often enough for me.

No senator has been elected president since JFK.
They just get a lot of publicity from the national press because the NP is so parochial and ignores the rest of the country outside DC.
It is highly likely that our next president will be a governor, not a senator.

Because he speaks out of both sides of hs mouth although with a kindler gentler tone. He could run for the anti-Christ position: I hear that's up for grabs.

She's already married to the "First Black President".
