In written comments to Lloyd's task force, Silicon Valley venture capitalists John Doerr, Ray Lane and Bill Joy of Kleiner, Perkins, Caufield & Byers said they "enthusiastically" support a cap-and-trade program because it could lead to new markets for technology that helps reduce energy use. The same people that brought us stem-cell research. Here we go!

the state will miss the goals by at least 21 percent by 2020 unless his administration and the state Legislature take sweeping new steps to cut California's use of gasoline in carsOf course. We need hydrogen highways!!!

The traffic nightmare around places like Los Amgeles is a disgrace. Cars sit in traffic spewing pollution because there's not enough highways. Why that is, I don't know. But I will gladly join the liberal environmentalists in calling for massive highway projects in order to alleviate this unnecessary situation. The environmentalists want more highways to reduce pollution, don't they?

I'm trying to decide which has a worse future: California or France? Each seems determined to take the wrong fork in the path when it comes to critical decision-making. The California where I was born no longer exists.

The environmentalists want more highways to reduce pollution, don't they? Nope. They want bicycle paths.

Its all a colossal waste of time, humans make technological breakthroughs all through history.
I think we can expect something revolutionary by 2020. Zero point energy maybe. Who knows what. Fossil fuels are simply a stepping stone. Generations from now they will be amazed we used oil.

a legislative cap-&-trade program is an instant creation of wealth.

follow the money. With a $50-$100 Billion Bond package on the drawing table, there should be plenty to follow.

What the enviro's really want, and are pushing for again in 2006 with the gazillionth attempt for a ballot measure to fund it, is high speed rail. Going back into the fifties and sixties, the lefties have been pushing for commuter rail ever since. They actually are behind the disappearance of all the old Mom and Pop gas stations in this State. Where we live six stations have been forced out of business...but that is a different topic isn't it.

Its never going to happen. Such cuts would put the politicians out of work. And 2020 is less than a decade away and Arnold and the current political class will be out of office long before then.

Must be an amendment in the Constitution I missed. I believe you're referring to the Howard Dean Bike Path Emanating Penumbra Amendment. Let's recall that Dr. Demento quit his church in a dispute over a bike path.
