Currently immigration and trade are inseparable issues

Why, because you say so? LOL

If,however,as it appears, you support open borders without any restrictions

And, other than your hyper-active imagination, you would get this from where?

for the expressed purpose of depressing wages

I support depressing wages? Hardly. The facts prove real wages for all workers have increased since NAFTA was passed. How do you explain that?

then I would seriously question your conservative credentials though I better understand your seeking to drive someone from expressing an opinion that differs from yours.

Yes, this is what you guys are all about isn't it? Trying to prove that protectionists are the real conservatives. I suppose real conservatives vote for candidates like Pat Buchanan while those who support free trade vote for candidates like Reagan and Bush. I like to think that a real conservative can get more than 0.004% of the popular vote however.

...one would see just how his illegal immigration policy helped lead to the dire situation we are now in with illegal immigration.

We do see it. Deport all illegals and build a wall. No argument from me. Of course, if we did that, what would hedgetrimmer have to complain about?

India among top migrant exporters

Wednesday, November 23, 2005

MUMBAI: India is among the top senders of migrants in the case of Mode 4, which refers to cross-border delivery of services through the temporary movement of persons.

This was revealed in a paper titled “The impact of Mode 4 Liberalization on Bilateral trade flows” released by the World Trade Organization (WTO). According to the WTO paper, “India is the most important sending country of H-1B beneficiaries. H-1B beneficiaries from India were 1,24,647 against the immigrant stocks of 10,22,552 followed by 22,570 (against 9,88,857).

"Free traders" are hoping to codify this in the Doha round. You are a "free trader", ergo...

It isn't wise for one to laugh out loud while making an ass of oneself.
Real wages have declined every year since 1973.
As to the question of real conservatives, that will be answered by historians. However, conservatives have historically sought to conserve the American way of life. That includes the institutions that make America great. The grandest of those institutions is a strong, vibrant middle class. A large portion of that middle class is the blue collar, working man and woman.
Those who endorse unrestrained capitalism are seeking to kill the blue collar portion of the middle class simply because of a caustic notion that those who work with their hands are less noble than say those who endorse NAFTA and GATT or the WTO. I think fools who are duped by the flacks for such organizations are the loudest and least informed people that one is likely to encounter.
American corporations endorse NAFT, GATT and WHO for the same reason they have always sought such accommodaitions. They seek to develop large pools of cheap labor that can be exploited without government interferrence.Once these pools are fully exploited they simply move onto another cheap labor source.
I think that is the prime reason that communist china appeals to those of you who are fans of the WTO. American corporations can purchase inexpensively made goods and maintain far greater margins that by having products made in America. Of course a true conservative would object to dealing with communist china for the simple fact that dealing with a communist nation only strengthens the communist nation while weakening America. This argument doesn't even address the fact that much of the product produced in communist china is made by slave labor. I am sure that doesn't bother a free trader but I believe it would bother a conservative.
