Will illegal immigrants be gays of 2008? [Barf Alert]
Arkansas News Bureau ^ | Dec 5, 2005 | John Brummett

Posted on 12/05/2005 1:08:12 AM PST by ncountylee

Democrats of more cynical persuasions believe that George W. Bush took out after illegal Mexican immigrants last week not only for the obvious reason, which was to change the subject from his vast failings.

They think Republicans are preparing for 2008 an equivalent of the gay marriage issue of 2004. They surmise that Republicans intend to try to inflame emotions against illegal immigrants to inspire pro-GOP turnout among otherwise unsophisticated voters, sometimes referred to as "values voters" or "red-state voters."

The idea would be to mimic the inflammation of emotions against gays that ensued after one isolated state court, in Massachusetts, issued one isolated ruling about the rights of homosexuals to marry that meant nothing real to anybody in the 49 other states.

First thing you knew, Bush-leaning states far and wide had on their general election ballots citizen-initiated state constitutional amendments banning what was banned already, meaning the marriage of a set of human body parts with the same set. Voters fearful of a modern-day United States of Sodom and Gomorrah poured out of fundamentalist and evangelical pews and straight to the polls.

He sponsors with Ted Kennedy a bill to provide not direct amnesty, but a process for illegals the goal-line of which would not be self-inflicted deportation, but American citizenship.

Another one of these guys.

I wish you'd used stronger words than "barf alert" in the headline. Clearly the author is spewing every feelthy disease that illegal blue state gays spread every time they open thier mouths. Etc.

As long as liberals, like this guy, insult the intelligence of rural America, the Republicans will continue in the majority.

This is BS. These people need to get off this "I'm Gay and I'm discriminated against" crap. I live a mile from the High Land Park area in Dallas. The "gay" area is nestled next to it. Is it discrimination when I see two gay guys roll out of their $340,000 condo in their $50,000 foreign sports car?

The REAL BS occurs when non-Gay individuals & families including women with young children are forced to watch gay men ogle, caress, and fondle each other in plain public view on the streets, shopping centers, restaurants, movies, the beach, etc. Out of the closet now means bring the bedroom activity to the public.

If, and that is a big-

IF, illegal immigration becomes "the issue" to drive otherwise lazy Republicans out to the polls and oppose Democrats, then so be it.

Whatever motivating issue remains on the table in 2006 & 2008 needs to be capitalized upon to ensure maximum Democratic Party defeat.

I think it would be fairly presumptuous for Republicans to assume that illegal immigration restrictionists will vote for them. Many Republicans have been fully complicit in creating this problem right along with the Democrats.

My Wyoming Congresswoman, Barbara Cubin, has been a member of Tom Tancredo's immigration reform caucus nearly since its inception. But there are two Republican Wyoming Senators that I plan to vote against at each and every opportunity because of their shameful records on this issue.

I feel the same way about Republicans who are careless regarding our borders and security, including Jorge Arbusto in la Hacienda Blanco. He gets the fako peso every time the GOP makes a request from my bank.

However, if a Democrat is not offering something concrete to seal the border and deport, what do you do?

How does opposing a Republican all the way to the ballot box help the Conservative agenda which is multi-faceted (to me) and not a single issue (illegal-aliens)?

If you keep voting for the less of two evils the end result will still be evil. The only way things will change is when we adopt zero tolerance for evil. But you vote your way and I'll vote mine. That is the American way.

I think this is a winning issue because I personally know many LEGAL immigrants who do not like the "free pass" being proposed to illegals.

I DO hope they use it in 2008 AND 2006. Box the democrats into the party of illegal conduct.

They think Republicans are preparing for 2008 an equivalent of the gay marriage issue of 2004.

No, they are preparing for the issue the voters are demanding resolution on BY 2008. It is not the "equivalent" of anything, it is the issue of illegal aliens in this country and how to get them OUT of this country. But of course it is a socialists trick to incorrectly define an issue to facilitate the `lil commies position. In this instance the writer is trying to attach the issue of queers to the issue of illegal aliens in the county that are wanting to stay here forever with the same rights as American Citizens... nice try, won't work.

"They surmise that Republicans intend to try to inflame emotions against illegal immigrants to inspire pro-GOP turnout among otherwise unsophisticated voters",

Well well, how elitist of the "sophisticated" voter to recognize and inform the general public the "cause" of a majority of voters.

An oddball extremist, this same fellow rode the gay hatred to a 44 percent showing

A 44% percentage of any vote is neither "odd" or "extremist." It is 6.1% from being the majority. Referring to a pro-hetro initiative as "gay hatred" strikes me as a bit of an indication of the "orientation" of the writer.

Only amnesty and a well-assisted path to citizenship would work.

And another OBL scamnesty short cutter to citizenship is revealed..
