Does this not point to the real intentions of the enemy we face? The only question is whose side will the secular progressives take? If they are smart they will side with the Christians whose concepts of liberty have enabled their agenda to move forward. If they decide that Islam is their friend, then they will be destroyed immediately after the Christians are finished off.

You are correct. I believe in a pre-tribulation rapture after which (quite possibly before) the seculars will side with the Islamists and summarily be co-destroyed after 3 1/2 years.
