If the Muslim faith wishes to claim it as a holy site then, as they always have, the Jewish people will allow free access to these sites for the Muslim pilgrims to make the journey. But the timeline can't be used as the sole basis. After all, the land once belonged to non-Jewish tribes...such as the Canaanites...and for most of the last 2000 years, it was under Arab domination.

____No one is advocating "control." But the UN once designated Jerusalem as an international city...and the UN was correct then..now it is firmly Israeli and that is permanent, but a opiece of Arab Jerusalem might be allowed as a symbolic capital for a Palestinian state.
