B.C. in the area I come from is SOLIDLY CONSERVATIVE. However I will admit that B.C. has been seriously diluted in her conservatism in the last number of years becuase of SO MUCH IMMIGRATION from the East to retire here. Unfortunately they bring their liberal attitued with them. I recall B.C. being Social Credit (very conservative and business orientated) for over 20 years. I am seriously bummed out with the influx of easterners.

Here's hoping for improved US-Canadian relations if a new regime comes into power.

Kiss that goodbye. Larger cities tend to be much more liberal than rural areas. As your city grows, so is the left. With the establishment of an arts-heavy university, retirees from the East (as you say yourself), and a leftist mayor, the days of "SOLIDLY CONSERVATIVE" are numbered. In fact, look at the recent provincial elections, and you'll see that the NDP made big inroads.

Sorry to burst your bubble, but your valley is headed left at high speed.

Without once again reciting all of the details and with all due respect, this is largely nonsense.

Parts of BC have long been such socialist hot beds that the entire province is often called 'the left coast'.

While immigration from outside of Canada is definitely a factor, you'd be hard pressed to substantiate your claim as to migration from Eastern Canada being so as well.

BC elected its first of 3 (!) NDP provincial governments well before Ontario voted in its first - and hopefully only! - one.

While Ontario's re-electing the despicable Carolyn Parrish and (until recently) Sheila Copps is nothing to be proud of, a province which habitually sends to Ottawa Hedy Fry - a well-proven liar & gender bigot - as well as Svend Robinson - an anti-Christian, gay activist thief & one-time heckler of President Reagan in the Commons (!) - quite simply isn't in a position to criticize.

Are these BC-based MP's leading the moral bankruptcy charge also somehow Ontario's fault?

Somewhat off-topic, check out MP Libby Davis in the linked article, I'd love to see statistics on the relative financial impact of much maligned smokers versus the one-two punch of grossly fat homosexuals on the healthcare system - LOL!
