Agreed, but the woman in a situation like this usually says that she was paralyzed by fear and the abuse was all done by him, she didn't participate or actually see anything. She was scared to try to kick him out of the residence because he said he'd return with a gun. She was scared to leave because he would track her down and do something violent.

All too often juries buy the babe-in-the-woods routine. If there is a conviction, she'll do 3 months in the can and 3 months in a halfway house while he goes away for 25 years.

I'm sure as hell not defending the system, I think it sucks that women usually get a free ride or close to it.

Yea, but it gets worse in "Domestic Violence" actions, where "harrassment" is alleged. Though it is a real problem, a vindictive woman can really play the victim and screw the man in a divorce/child custody action.
