<< I am hardly an economist but if the "devaluing of the Dollar" occurred would that not make our exports look very attractive and the Euros wine and cheese look unattractive? >>

Dunno if you've noticed but the value of the US Dollar has halved since January 2001 - a not insubstantial devaluation - and one which makes oil and gas seem awfully inexpensive in January 2001 Dollars.

The devaluation, by the way, had nothing to do with the oil producers and everything to do with the Greenspan and the rest of the Fed's economics illiterates increasing the money supply way beyond the increase in America's Capital Base. Same fraudulent inflationary Keynesian way its been doing for decades.

As for the oil producers, they can price their goop in Jordanian Dinars, for all we care and we and the Chinese and the Japanese and about everyone on the planet but a few dead and decadent Euro-peons will pay them in the Dollars that are all we all have!

"That's why the term islamofascism fits well..."

However, it is a dilemma. We must go after the 'fascism' part, and not the 'Islamo' part.

America respects religious diversity - as it should.

Speaking from a Christian perspective, it would be better to love the 'mutants' but hate their religion. And I'm not usually one to demean another's religion, it's entirely their business between themselves and God. However, Islam appears to have as its central goal the abolition of all other religions and by the way all other forms of government...and for that reason it is dangerous.

Even evangelical Christians don't prohibit places of worship from other faiths or the reading of their books in their homes. Other faiths (generally) don't kill you if you leave, or chop off your hand if you steal, or kill your daughter if she has a hot date.

As far as 'normal' Muslims are concerned, I am perfectly willing to leave them alone to do as they please, which is their right. The radical Imams don't want them to remain 'normal'. They want everyone to join the jihad or go to the Muslim version of hell...which must be pretty terrible as compared with the Muslim version of life on this Earth.

If the world were attacked by aliens, and it turned out they were Capitalists, who side would you be on?

It's a matter of degree.

Not having a one armed economist to consult, I do not know the answer.
The lobster in the pot was thinking did the water go up a degree or two?

Pricing Oil in Euros is the REAL front of the war on terror. The europeans have ALWAYS had their NUMBER ONE GOAL of the euro as kicking out the dollar as the price marker of oil.

That is where the USA is being attacked. This is a front where we have state department and commerce department INCOMPETENTS on our front lines.

Odd that Iran's massive counterfeiting of U.S $'s is never brought up.

I don't think you are correct, the world MSM would have an ORGY OF ANTI AMERICAN stories.

The PERCEPTION would CREATE REALITY.

It would still be bad.

Perhaps the new currency notes are too much for IRAN and now they are going to be counterfiting the easier EURO notes.

I bet part of the EURO deal includes counterfiting presses.

You make many 'live-and-let live' points, and I agree with much - in the abstract.

American Muslims are Americans first and most get the concept of liberty and freedom. They are participants in our Grand Experiment . If we can't assimilate their religion, then America stands for nothing.

As I understand it, our new bills are in direct response to Iran's counterfeiting.
We sold the Shah presses identical to ours & show'd 'em how to make comparable ink & paper.

Then along came that little, angry, miserable peanut farmer to ruin it all.

"The result, some SME's estimate, might be as many as 200 million Americans out of work and starving on the streets with nobody and nothing able to rescue or aid them, contrary to the 1920/30 Great Depression through soup kitchens and charitable support efforts."

I believe that 200 million figure is larger than the current workforce.

The USA will not be destroyed by a collapse in the dollar.

It has happened before, remember the Continental?

We already have an alternate currency in place - Gold and Siver Eagle coins, as mandated by our Constitution, BTW.

"Pricing Oil in Euros is the REAL front of the war on terror..."

You maybe right. But since I, and perhaps as many as 99 % of Americans really don't 'get' the economics of international currency, we need more - emotion. In order to defeat this enemy we've got to portrait them as a threat to mom, apple pie, and the American way of life.

We've got to rile up the citizenry. Or we're lost.

There is likely a thread to this given the coziness of the Euro's and their two-facedness with the Iranian nuke threat.

The Israeli's will have to exhibit the world's backbone in this instance, I fear.

think of all the bonds owned by foreign governments

then, when the dollar devalues, what happens to the value of the bonds?

it lowers, also.

So, once the bonds mature, or come to an age where they can be redeemed for face value or a get out date, those governments will do just that.

NOW, when they do, that means we have to honor those bonds, doesn't it?

How much money does the government have out in bonds?

When everyone runs to the bank to withdraw, what happenes?

Ever see ITS A WONDERFUL LIFE?

I don't remember any recent article on that, but if they released a ton of dollars on the market, that in itself would cause a devaluing of the dollar!

read my post about bonds and people who cash tem in.

ITS A WONDERFUL LIFE

the run on the bank

People do NOT keep their money and investments in a bank that is going under, or appears to be, either.

NOW, consider that in the equation.

Right...and you do an admirable job of connecting economic and financial dots to make it real to us.

In the minds of many who have a serious lack of understanding of basic economics this won't - agitate.

We've got a long, deadly serious job ahead to defeat a determined enemy.

Accepted your premise is right, how do we sustain our anger against this enemy - and overwhelm the opposition to the WoT/Iraq at home.

This is exactly the point.

The only way all this paper can be paid off is to devalue the currency.

A return to sanity and the gold standard is the ultimate result after Federal Reserve Notes become worthless.
